Possibly the greatest comment ever left at this site

Zonker, once again, does not disappoint:
I find your unilateral decision to initiate violence against that poor man to be most un-nuanced. Couldn’t you have warned him that he was in danger of being referred to the local security council? Threats of sanctions have dissuaded even the worst of tyrants, no?
Read the post to see the [...]

Let it be so, please

Joe Gandelman:
Progressive comedian-talk show host Stephanie Miller appears on MSNBC. Will it lead to a full-time gig?
Question: Isn’t Miller a comedienne?
In any case, please let it be so. I’m getting so sick of this “Let’s resurrect the Fairness Doctrine” narrative from the left, by all means, let’s have another liberal talk show host fail [...]

I quit, dear readers

I’m rich, you see, and I have no time for you any longer:
Dear D.G.,
The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN®) recently agreed to reduce their Registrar Transaction Fee from $.25 to $.22. What does this mean for you?
Good news. You have been credited $.03/yr for each domain name you registered or renewed dating [...]

Edwards continues to chase the Daily Kos vote

John Edwards is really pulling out all of the stops in pursuing the Daily Kos vote. Observe the following blog ad:

Note the color scheme of the ad: Orange, and a shade of orange very close to the Daily Kos color scheme (click on over there and take a look — The ad is running [...]

Kennedy and Dodd: Let the good times roll!

What an interesting old article about Ted Kennedy.
Even more interestingly, the article fleshes out Chris Dodd’s role as Kennedy’s partying buddy. I have to admit a certain fondness for old Irish party animals like Kennedy…odds are, after all, that I’ll share many of their characteristics once I’m old enough not to care.
Of course, Dodd’s [...]

Cocaine purer and cheaper

AP:
(AP) Cocaine prices in the United States have dropped and the drug’s purity increased, despite years of effort and nearly $5 billion spent by the U.S. government to combat Colombia’s drug industry, the White House drug czar acknowledged in a letter to a key senator.
The drug czar, John Walters, wrote Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, that [...]

Tenet’s Book

So yeah, I watched 60 Minutes, and while I think George Tenet is unwise to publish his book, let’s all remember who kept Tenet on after the Clinton administration ended, and who awarded Tenet with the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
Conservatives, particularly those bashed about a bit in Tenet’s book are, of course, going to hit [...]

NY Times will no longer participate in White House Correspondents Association dinners

Editor and Publisher:
Tucked inside Frank Rich’s Sunday column in the New York Times is indication that the newspaper will no longer play ball with the annual White House Correspondents Association dinners in Washington, which he calls “a crystallization of the press’s failures in the post-9/11 era.” He writes that the event “illustrates how easily a [...]

Taste of Marietta: The proper and righteous usage of the head butt

Pictures? Impossible.
My take: Taste of Marietta really isn’t fit for families any longer. The younger crowd, god bless ‘em, was busy hollering cuss words at the top of their lungs, and the really poor layout of the festival only contributed to the sense of…well, a madhouse wrapped in a maelstrom, interwoven with chaos.
There [...]

Taste of Marietta

(image from http://tasteofmarietta.com)
In keeping with my bride’s tradition of going to some festival or another every weekend once the weather turns nice, today we’ll be at Taste of Marietta.
This event never fails to pack a couple of pounds around my waistline, so I’ll be doing extra cardio this week, thankyouverymuch.
Pics will be up later, naturally.
