Mobys on The Politico

Glenn Reynolds links to a Mike Allen piece at The Politico that describes the DNC’s apparent nervousness at a Fred Thompson candidacy. I won’t quote Allen’s piece, as it’s pretty obvious Fred! is a nightmare candidate for Democrats, but here’s something interesting…At least one Moby on the site:

That’s the commenter’s Politico user info. Here’s the good part:

Sorry for the thumbnail, but just click it for the full sized image. Now, take a look at the party identification of the commenter…Republican, right? But what website does the commenter pimp in his signature? Bartcop.com. Would Bartcop be a site a Republican would be enamored of? Click on through to the site, if you don’t mind being treated to a visual liberal smorgasbord, or, if you’d rather not, check this out:

1. Democratic Underground links to Bartcop

2. Daily Kos links to Bartcop

3. Atrios Bartcop links

Yeah, that’s a Republican hangout, all right. Not. So, edofarrell is a Moby infesting The Politico’s comment section.

Update: Welcome again, Instapundit readers! To see what else I’m writing about here lately, take a look at the “Top Posts” section over on the sidebar. Also, I had quite a busy weekend, here’s the table of contents for those posts. Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Ahhh. The smell of fear! My GOD I can’t wait for the debates to begin. Fred vs Donks, I LOVE it!!!

  2. Anyone with knowledge of northern Calif. would know that no Republicans live in the Peoples Republic of Davis. This is the town that built a little tunnel under a road so the frogs could cross without getting squashed.

  3. Spent money on a tunnel under the road for frogs that the frogs refuse to use.
Most people would just down play the mistake. Davis is spent additional money on frog training to teach the anphibians to use the tunnel.
Some of the toads actually started using the tunnel. Then these birds who eat frogs discovered that if you just wait by this hole you get an easy meal.

  4. Joe, are you a Democrat?

  5. You bet your tucchus I am, twc — but I’m a conservative Democrat, a Blue Dog if you will. I don’t approve of this “mobying” business, along with many other tactics of the online far left.

That doesn’t mean I support Fred Thompson, it just means I calls ‘em like I sees ‘em.

  6. Interesting. I take it “mobying” is assuming a false affiliation to post? Apologies for my ignorance.

  7. Patvann, I can only imagine how excited you might be if the polls showed that Fred Thompson were actually beating any Democratic candidate in a head-to-head race. Or even close, for that matter.

  8. No problem twc…I don’t exactly have a mission statement around here :-)

“Mobying” is a term named after the DJ/Musician Moby, who suggested immediately before the 2004 election that Democrats should call into talk shows, post on the internet, etc, posing as disgruntled Republicans. I’ll see if I can dig up a link to his original statement.
