When does the FEC start looking into these “in kind” contributions from the media, I wonder?
I think all this negativity over what is a family matter, and not necessarily a bad one, will backfire big-time on the Dems.
This is all bullshit. Statistically, there’s a pretty good chance SOME daughter of a presidential or vice-presidential candidate got pregnant during their campaign, which run for around 2 years. None of it came out. So, statistically, some candidates daughter, probably several, had abortions rather than have the kid and face the scandal. It would have been quite easy for Palin to counsel her daughter to abort the baby and go on. She didn’t And that is going to resound with conservatives.
There are more conservatives than their are liberals in this country. McCain apparently isn’t going to get the disaffected Dems and independents I and others had hoped. His only recourse now is to fire up the base, and he’s done it in spades. Read the Novak column today (via RealClearPolitics if you can’t find it, I don’t have the link handy).
I still think Palin is going to turn out to be a POWERHOUSE politician, and our first woman president after McCain serves one term, hell, he may die in office, who knows?
They are going to win this in a close one and go on to be a _very_ popular team. I feel it. This woman has something special, and she has the real accomplishments to show it. Obama has nothing. Those who say it are tarred as racists, but Ferraro was exactly right: if Obama has a white father and mother, he’s a back-bench Senator still learning the ropes and trying to steal the cameras.
I’m so sickened of the liberal bashing, but it’s reminding people who didn’t like McCain what the alternative is.
Go to Kos. Go to Atrios. Go to any liberal site. It’s hateful, despicable, destructive, and Obama is winking at it.
That’s one reason seeing lib talking points parroted here (in the name of balance) pisses me off so much, although twc has moderated lately.
I’d like to see how he defends libs attacking a 17 year old girl. How do we know Chelsea didn’t have an abortion, or several? The press won’t dig into her life, that’s why, nor Obama’s kids, nor should they. But the Bush girls have a few drinks, Palin has an unwed mother daughter and they are all over them like the vultures they are, and the lefty bloggers feedin the MSM their lines.
These are terrible, terrible people. They cannot be allowed to take the reins of government. I feel the American people will see this and lash back. Republican idenification ticked up again this month to less than 5 pts. below Dem, after being 10 pts below as late as last March. Here’s hoping it makes up another couple points before November. I don’t see how this repulsive mess helps Obama..
I can only hope Americans see this for what it is and vote appropriately in November. The far Left has taken control of the Democratic party and they’re an ugly bunch who will do and say anything to get their empty suit of a candidate elected president.
“This woman has something special, and she has the real accomplishments to show it. Obama has nothing.”
Oh you are so so wrong, Doc. Obama has the executive experience of running his successful campaign. Of course, he isn’t the person who is actually running it, but his name is on the door, so that counts…right?
And don’t forget, he was a community organizer.
I’m getting more and more annoyed as I read blogs and news sites. It’s just so biased, so disgusting and so hypocritical.
To brogarn and docweasel,
To be honest, you’re both whiners and hypocrites. I’ve made a personal decision not to blog about Palin’s daughter, but I’ve considered it no holds barred on every other aspect of her life.
but for you to sit here and whine that the liberal blogosphere is wading into Palin’s family affairs and to have not said a word when conservative bloggers have and are fervently trying to spread the word that Obama’s a muslim and that he took his oath of office on the Q’uran… is what, righteous? I’ve seen the video, DICK CHENEY swears them all in on the same book, the bible.
Spreading or being tacit in the spreading of lies about a man’s religion is any better or worse than spreading or being tacit in a rumor mill that magnifies the mistake of a young girl? Morality doesn’t provide us with much basis for comparison, just tells us what is right or wrong.
Listen, if you want to crack on liberal bloggers who go after Palin’s daughter that’s more than ok with me, in fact i’ll help, but you fellas have to play ball.
You can stand up and go after lies everywhere, or you can sit down, shut up, and watch the political discussion degrade into a circus event; but you can’t sit down and stand up at the same time.
Try and you’re just partisan whiners, and a little bit sad too.
I haven’t said anything about the Muslim issue because I figured it was patently false and spread by nutjobs. Why bring it up? It was of no interest to me. I don’t think anyone here has tried to present that rumour as fact. You’re on the wrong site for that kind of crap.
But go ahead and feel free to quote me anywhere from this site where I helped spread that rumour. When you can’t, come back here and apologize for calling me a hypocrite and whiner. Or don’t and be labeled one yourself.
Marc, Barack Obama is running for the office of President of the United States of America.
Can you tell us what office Bristol Palin is running for?
And please leave the commenter name-calling at your own partisan blog. We don’t do that here. We attack the arguement, not the person. Thanks.
Ditto bro and Red.
I’m truly a twisted individual because I found the following pretty damn funny:

F word dropped a couple of times, so be careful where you watch it.
That is funny, bro — and pretty well-done, too.
As Joe Klein of TIME points out, Steve Schmidt and the McCain campaign are cynically trying to turn around the firestorm of questions about the Palin pick into an attack on “the media.” It might work. But what did they expect when on the eve of the convention they selected someone virtually unknown outside of Alaska, with no track record on national or international issues, and then secluded her from any media questions or contact before she was officially nominated?
Sarah Palin will have to answer questions some day. She can’t run for VPOTUS as a complete unknown. And that’s not sexist or biased.
So let’s have 2-on-2 town halls and the people can ask all the questions they want to all 4 of them together.
Any place, any time.
Ditto Red. Bring it.
Sure.
I’d just settle for Sarah Palin answering a single reporter’s question.
But the more the better, AFAIC.
