Blogrolling policy

I’ve received several requests from bloggers here at WordPress.com to add them to my blogroll recently, so I guess this is as good a time as any to reiterate my very simple blogrolling policy: Reciprocity.

You link me, I’ll link you. There are exceptions, of course, for racist, antisemitic, conspiracy theory, or otherwise offensive blogs, and the sole arbiter of what’s offensive is, of course, me. As a general rule, however, I’ll link to anyone reasonable.

The reason I’m not terribly strict about blogrolling other writers is that unlike some bloggers, my blogroll isn’t really a resource I use on a daily basis — In other words, it’s not a “working blogroll”. My own list of favorite sites is stored in my Google favorites. I’m a big believer in blogrolls for use in promoting one’s site, however, and although I don’t think they provide any boost in traffic for even smaller blogs, I realize they do help with Technorati and Ecosystem rankings, and some folks care about that sort of thing. Given I’m a pretty terrible linker (in terms of linking to other blogs), as I try to write, more than quote, I figure maintaining a liberal blogrolling policy is the least I can do.

So, if you want a link here, now you know what to do. Blogroll this site, and send me an email letting me know you’ve done so, and 9 times out of 10 I’ll blogroll you right back. It’s how I roll, my peeps.
