All of you who are complaining about Centex are fools. Why didn't you do your homework prior to making such a substantial investment. Hell, most of the complainers here are probably facing foreclosure because they didn't have the money to buy the house in the first place. Docweasel sure does have all the answers, here are a few of mine.

As for the initial post, why in the hell would you close on a house where you had a major concern with drainage. You should have demanded an acceptable resolution or said goodbye, even if that meant losing your deposit. It wouldn't have gotten to that point, Centex would have gone out of their way in order not to lose the sale. Another mess up; you should have never closed on the house without getting a private home inspector. Cleary this cat has no clue about building a house.

As for Doc, he has some good points but since when did code cover bowed studs. No code on the planet covers cosmetics or as he so elegantly puts it, "sloppy painting."

News flash, track builders are exactly that. They build products that are repetitive, thus keeping costs down. It's all about volume. If you can afford a "custom" home then buy one. But guess what, the quality of a custom home is not going to be much better. What you are seeing here are a select few that probably did have some issues. But that is with any builder, large or small. For every ten homes built, at least one is going to be a lemon. Thus, that is probably why Centex ranks so high on JDPower.

In conclusion, simply read poor Diana's post. Like I said in my opening statement; if she did buy the house, she is most likely waiting on Obama to bail her out of foreclosure.

Where the majority of voters are according to a Pew poll:

I think that might explain some of why Joe has some issues with his party right now.

I see you're allowing the "automatically generated comments". We weighed the pros and cons and opted out, figuring its a sophisticated legal spam system in the end, but I'll be watching your generated links with interest to see how well the system works, one way or another.

The problem, as I see it, is one of control. There is enough problems with people associating comments with the owner, now might a blogger get smeared by links over which he has no control? I dunno.

I bought a Centex home in January of 2005. Probably the worst mistake I have ever made. They installed a 3 ton AC unit for a 1900 square foot home. That does not work. Sure it meets the minimum requirement by the builder (cheapest way to go), but just simply does not work. centex has done nothing from day one to correct it. We are looking at $400 electric bills and a house that usually May-September cant cool below 80 degrees. It usually runs about 22 hours a day. Centex has accepted no responsibility. Customer service has been terrible. I would never recommend using this company as your home builder. At least using them in Fort Worth, Texas has been a nightmare. I wish I knew what other actions I could take.

Looks like the race may have effectively ended tonight. Regardless of whether those late results from Gary end up swinging Indiana to Obama or fall just short, Obama basically put it away.

Well said, and pretty much what I thought you were thinking. Personally I am a fan of second thoughts, and several iterations from there. I guess you could say that is reflected in the title of my blog.

Well-said, Joe. Thanks for the particularly cogent summation. I read you loud and clear. (I.e, even I could understand and appreciate that one!)

Newsweek has recently reported that the McCain folks now say, with either targeted irony or remarkable understatement, that the decision to court Pastor John Hagee and have their candidate stage a joint appearance trumpeting his endorsement was the result of "poor vetting."
http://www.newsweek.com/id/135385/output/print

But, as Frank Rich put it this weekend, "Any 12-year-old with a laptop could have vetted this preacher in 30 seconds, tops."
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/05/04/opinion/04rich.html

Which, I suppose, tells us all something significant about the competency of John McCain's presidential campaign.
